Netflix Reveals The Number of Times ‘You’ Has Been Viewed

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”13397″ img_size=”696×464″ alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]While Netflix doesn’t really release its stats, the number of those who watched the recently release ‘You’ seemed too large to not reveal. The story that centers around the crazy stalker Joe (Penn Badgley) and Beck (Elizabeth Lail) has been viewed about 40 million times within the first four weeks of its release. Previously, it averaged about 1.1 million viewers per episode on Lifetime, but it seems that due to the buzz it generated online and its main male lead, ‘You’ has really taken off for audiences.

It’s important to note that a “view” is classified as someone who has watched at least 70% percent of an episode. ‘You’ started on Lifetime, but moved to Netflix and its second season will be counted as a Netflix Original, so it will be interesting to see how the viewership fluctuates, if Netflix so chooses to release that kind of information. The news of this statistic comes during a time where Netflix is canceling a lot of their own original shows and is raising their prices, so by the time the second season comes out, it’ll be a good indication to see how these aspects will change the audience.
