Netflix Saved ‘Lucifer’ Because “It’s A Fantastic Show”

Netflix has been very busy today with news regarding Stranger Things season 3 plus the debut date for Chilling Adventures of Sabrina during their panel for the Television Critics  Association. The VP of Original Series Cindy Holland spoke today about why Netflix decided to save the cancelled FOX series, Lucifer, saying this:

“It’s a fantastic show that has really resonated with audiences in parts of the world where we licensed it so we felt it was important to help that show continue for those fans,”

Once FOX announced the show would be cancelled, fans began to campaign for the show to be picked up by another studio. Netflix did just that and according to star of the show Tom Ellis, the series will have 10 episodes instead of 22. Ellis spoke with Entertainment Weekly about the Netflix deal and the lighter schedule saying:

“I’m excited about the fact that we are 10 episodes now as opposed to 22, which means we can get right down to the storytelling, and every episode will count, From my point of view as an actor, that’s great.”
