Netflix’s ‘Mindhunter’ Put on Indefinite Hold Due to David Fincher’s Busy Schedule

One of Netflix’s best original programs is Mindhunter, which is why the news that the show has been put on an indefinite hold really sucks. According to Deadline and TVLine, cast members Jonathan Groff, Holt McCallany and Anna Torv have been released from their contracts. The show has not been canceled, but the reasoning behind these decisions is because executive producer David Fincher has an extremely busy schedule.

A Netflix representative stated:

“David is focused on directing his first Netflix film Mank and on producing the second season of Love, Death and Robots. He may revisit Mindhunter again in the future, but in the meantime felt it wasn’t fair to the actors to hold them from seeking other work while he was exploring new work of his own.”

Mindhunter explored the beginnings of the BSU, which studied serial killers to help define them and catch future killers. The show featured a lot of well-known serial killers, such as Ed Kemper, Son of Sam, and Charles Manson. It was clear that the series was building up to catching the BTK killer, but since the show now is on hold, who knows if and when we’ll see this storyline play out.

How do you feel about Mindhunter going on hiatus?
