NetherRealm Show Off First Gore-Filled Mortal Kombat 11 Gameplay

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”13690″ img_size=”800×475″ alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]NetherRealm Studios officially gave fans their first glimpse of Mortal Kombat 11’s blood-soaked gameplay in the build-up to the games eventual launch later this year for PS4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC.

The games first detailed showing off came earlier yesterday at a reveal event held in Los Angeles which was live streamed all over the world. On top of the mountains of truly gruesome gameplay that we saw, fans were given a look at some of the brand-new features heading to the latest installment of this legendary franchise.

The Majority of the event was spent looking at the much-anticipated Character Roster reveals. Alongside series Icons such as Scorpion, Sub-Zero, and Raiden we have Sonya Blade (Officially voiced by Ronda Rousey, WWE Fighter), and Geras who showed off his time-manipulating abilities in epic fashion in some of his gameplay. We also have some returning fan-favorite characters including Baraka from Mortal Kombat 2 and Mortal Kombat 9’s blood controlling Skarlet. Personally, Skarlet and Scorpion were the clear standouts to me but that being said every character looked utterly amazing and I’m extremely excited to see who else is revealed in the coming months.

On top of the properly brutal characters, fans were also given a glimpse into the games all-new mechanics including separate bars for both offensive and defensive attacks, the brand new “fatal Blow” mechanic which allows players to pull off a devastating once-per-game move that deals massive damage once their own health-bar reaches lower than 30%, and finally flawless blocks which now give players a brief opportunity for deadly counter-arracks after pulling off a perfect block. There was, of course, a whole host of fatalities including some predator style spin-ripping and a very elaborate beheading involving a helicopter. They have to be seen to be believed.

The game’s story prologue cinematic was also shown off.  Which can be seen here:

The reveal came to a close with the official reveal of Mortal Kombat 11’s Kollectors Editon along with the confirmation of the games closed beta (available to any who pre-ordered the game) which will begin March 28th. Shao Khan was also announced as a pre-order bonus serving as an incentive to some fans and unfortunately off-putting to others. MK 11 is set to launch on Xbox One, PS4, and PC on April 23rd, with a later arrival on Switch in May.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
