New Details On Mads Mikkelsen’s Role In ‘INDIANA JONES 5’

What do we know about Mads Mikkelsen in Indiana Jones 5?

According to the Illuminerdi, the Dutch actor will play the villain in the fifth Indiana Jones film. The outlet describes Mikkelsen’s character as a “Nazi scientist” who is then enlisted into NASA “by the United States government” in order to work on the “moon landing initiative”.

In addition, Illuminerdi reports that Shaunette Renee Wilson will play Mikkelsen’s CIA handler – essentially responsible for overseeing him. He is playing a Nazi scientist after all. It sounds like the film is exploring the 1960s space race and NASA’s mission to get a man on the moon. NASA’s Apollo 11 landed on the moon in the year 1969 in real life and the mission to get there started a decade+ beforehand, so it seems the US government is looking to go through nefarious channels to ensure they get to the moon before the Soviet Union.

According to Mikkelsen in an interview with Collider, he’s very excited for his role and the script:

“I’m very, very excited about it… I rewatched Raiders of the Lost Ark the other day, it is so well-done and so charming, and it’s such great storytelling. So yes it’s a great honor to be part of that franchise that I grew up with… I’m in a lucky position where they let me read the script before. And yes, it was everything I wished it to be, so that was just great.”

Who is excited for Indiana Jones 5? The film will hit theaters July 29, 2022.
