Following the trend of live-adaptations, the video game Monster hunter is getting its own time to shine. Leaked demo footage circled around over a year ago, but since then it’s been crickets.
We now have an official picture released on Instagram of Diego Boneta as the “hero”, Sergeant Marshall. We’ll let you take a look and draw your own conclusions, but it’s understandable if this causes fans to wonder, why? Well, film adaptations generally do well financially, so why wouldn’t the studios want to continue putting them on the big screen?
In an early on Capcom press statement, the plot is as follows:
“Two heroes who come from different worlds to defeat a shared danger, the powerful, deadly and magnificent monsters that inhabit the land,” Capcom noted. “Along the way, viewers will make new discoveries and encounter familiar faces and beloved characters from the game, like the Admiral.”
While fans may be wondering why we need a Monster Hunter adaptation, the series creator, Ryozo Tsujimoto expresses excitement:
“After living and breathing in the universe of Monster Hunter for 14 years we are thrilled with enormous anticipation to see our creations adapted for a theatrical release. Monster Hunter’s fan base has exploded over the past year with the runaway success of the game Monster Hunter: World. It is our hope long-time fans and new alike will join us on this exciting exploration of the Monster Hunter universe.”
