New Report Provides Some Additional Details On Why Avatar Creators Left Netflix Series

In case you missed it: Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko have exited Netflix’s upcoming live-action adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender. Originally, the creators stated that there were creative differences. But, there has to be more than just that right? Luckily, FandomWire did the research to try to get down to the truth.

The information in this article has been compiled by multiple sources for FandomWire.

According to the news outlet, the creators had wanted a bigger budget for the project. FandomWire suspects this to be a true reason, as both creators have only dealt in the animated realm previously. With this being their first live-action piece of work, they probably were realizing they needed more money to complete the project.

Another reason suspected as why the two left was due to Netflix wanting a few Caucasian actors in the show. The creators had been insistent that there not be a white actor in the series. I guess they wanted to make up for the fact that two white guys wrote a show about Asian characters and had them voiced by primarily…white people.

The big reason was probably because they couldn’t agree on the tone. It’s reported that Netflix wanted to go in a darker and more mature direction. But, the creators had wanted to keep the show kid-friendly.

What do you think about the possible reasons as to why the creators left the Avatar series?
