We have seen several images of Ben recently hitting the gym and getting back in shape. We also had the images of Ben with script in hand arriving at Warner Bros. studios. All of this could be for nothing though as Ben is set to star in the upcoming Gavin O’Connor film ‘The Has Been’. But we have some new reports via Pursue News who say Ben actually wants to play Batman at least one more time. According to Hollywood Life via Pursue News – Affleck is indeed interested in wearing the cape and cowl at least one more time.
“He is back in shape not only for his health but he has a new-found love on doing Batman at least one more time again. He feels he isn’t finished with what he wants to do with the character. There has been talk about replacing him, but he is now seeing what he might lose and really wants to play the character again. Especially seeing what Joaquin Phoenix is doing with the Joker character,”
“He would really like to take the character of Batman and visit a more serious tone and side of the character and working with someone like Joaquin would absolutely spark his creative juices. He wants to figure something out with Warner Brothers to don the cape one more time,”
Filming for The Has Been is set for this month so that would explain the getting back in shape I am sure but Ben could be working to keep in shape as it has been reported that Matt Reeves script was loved by WB and they hope to get production started by Summer 2019. It has been rumored that Matt wants a younger Batman but this has not been confirmed and Ben even maintained back at Comic Con 2017 that he would love to work with Matt on the Batman film.
Ben is still currently in rehab and will remain there as well as working with a sober coach according to the report. Right now the health of Ben is what is more important and if Batman is something he still wants to play then all that can be worked out when the time is right. We all would like to see him come back as Batman I am sure. I do want to point out that all of this news should be taken with a grain of salt until Warner Bros. or Ben himself make an official announcement.
