New Report Says Disney+ Will Have Up to 82 Million Subscribers Worldwide by 2024

The report continued:

The principal analyst at Digital TV Research, Simon Murray; pointed out:

“This comes despite the onslaught from new global players.”

While Netflix is currently the key driver of user growth, Amazon Prime will rank second in 2024 with 127 million subscribers and Apple is projected to reach 13 million. The forecast sees Disney ranking about Amazon, with Netflix climbing 57% by 2024 from 2018. The report predicts Disney+ generating $7.4 billion in revenue by 2024, with Amazon Prime making $6.0 billion.

Digital TV Research says Amazon Prime, Disney+, Netflix, and Apple will control about 45% of the global total:

“These four companies will control 45 percent of the global total. This leaves a substantial market for others, including 30 percent of global subscriptions in China where none of the four global players will operate.”

The global SVOD subscriptions will nearly double in the upcoming years according to Digital TV Research:

“The number of gross SVOD subscriptions will increase by 91 percent, or 462 million, between 2018 and 2024 to reach 970 million.”
