New Rumors on DCEU Black Adam, The Flash, and Supergirl!

The past few days have been interesting to say the least, regarding recent news on DCEU projects. The race for The Flash star Ezra Miller to submit a script that will please Warner Bros. to produce instead of the co-directors, Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley, version of The Flash. Black Adam story that prequels the DCEU and introduces Hawkman as the antagonist with Stargirl included. Now, there is more information about the Supergirl project. Remember, this information will all be RUMORS and nothing confirmed.

THE FLASH

For The Flash, we already know that Ezra Miller is working with Grant Morrison to create a “darker” version instead of the lighter approach from The Flash co-directors. DiscussingFilm gave a more clear understanding of what Ezra is attempting to create:

“The only information that I have on Ezra Miller’s screenplay is that he plans to have a dark epic involving The Flash, something as large of an event as Flashpoint”.

Now a darker version can be many things. I do not believe that Ezra is creating a dark and gloomy film similar to Batman films, but it will possibly be a serious/high stakes film with a few jokes in it, but not enough to consider it a comedy. Ezra is working with Grant Morrison, the same person that helped co-write one of The Flash’s most popular runs that introduced Black Flash, a character that resembles Death for DC’s speedsters a.k.a. The Flash family, so if Ezra takes inspiration from this series it is understandable why the film can be considered a “dark film”.

BLACK ADAM

For the film Black Adam, we already know about Hawkman, Stargirl and Atom Smasher featuring in the film and is currently eyeing to begin filming in March 2020, and will take inspiration from the “Dark Age” comic. According to a rumor from DiscussingFilm:

“…if the film is received well, this may pave the way for both a ‘Justice Society of America film’ and a ‘Hawkman and Hawkgirl’ film. ‘Hawkman and Hawkgirl’ is a film that has been up and down in early development so it is not surprising that the film may finally be receiving the push from ‘Black Adam’”.

Now take this with a grain of salt, but this news is exciting because it leads to other DC characters to get their shine; either in their own film or joining another character’s film. Dwayne Johnson is still signed on to portray Black Adam and the search for a director is still ongoing.

SUPERGIRL

Only information that was learned were from rumors a while ago that stated DC was looking to produce a Supergirl film as a replacement for Henry Cavill’s Superman. There is not much to update, but I thought this tidbit piece of information was interesting:

“…the first draft of the film’s screenplay followed Kara in high school (similar to ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming) with some of the first half of the film taking place on Krypton with the Earth portion of the film set to take place in the 70s, Brainiac was also the villain that draft of the screenplay”.

A film about Kara in high school? Interesting direction but that is all the information received so far since Henry Cavill’s contract with Warner Bros. is still in the air as they continue negotiating. Hopefully the dust settles and we can have a Man of Steel 2 with Superman AND Supergirl taking on Brainiac.
