The legendary director Wes Craven may have passed on, but his legacy will return in the upcoming fifth installment in the Scream franchise. While this next film will be the first directed by someone other than Craven, new directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett promise Scream is a love letter to Craven:
“This movie is a love letter in every way,” says Bettinelli-Olpin. “For both of us, Scream would be on not just our top five movies that we love, but movies that shaped who we are as filmmakers.”
“There was no version of this story, for us, that would work without the three of them (Neve Campbell, David Arquette and Courteney Cox),” says Gillett. “They are the beating heart of these movies.”
