New Tomb Raider Sequel Details Revealed

We’ve seen new production details and while filming is still set for April (we hear the 27th) it appears Finland and Beijing are no longer sites the movie will be filming. Also producer Janine van Assen has joined the crew. She also worked on the first Tomb Raider.

Tomb Raider fans were happy to hear that 2018s Tomb Raider film would be getting sequel. Alicia Vikander will return as Lara Croft and Ben Wheatley is taking over for director Roar Uthuag. The film is scheduled to begin production in April (we hear April 27) and release on March 21, 2021. Filming is set to take place in England, South Africa, Finland and Beijing. We reported a while back that the sequel is looking to implement more of the supernatural elements from the video games that fans love so much.

We have gotten some more details regarding the sequel. We are being told that much like the first movie was based on 2013s Tomb Raider, with parts of Rise of the Tomb Raider mixed in, the sequel will be based on both Rise and Shadow of the Tomb Raider. Though it is not much, fans of the video games should enjoy this news. We have also been told that more casting news will be coming soon.

I know some of you might be like, “What? That’s it?!” But as a fan of both video games and the first movie, we are very excited to hear this.  What do you think of this news? Are you excited for the Tomb Raider sequel? We think it wont be long till they release a PC game for Tomb Raider. Why not also read the Tomb Raider games by order?
