While we’ll never get Nicolas Cage as Superman, as he once was supposed to be; we could be looking at a world where the actor plays Clark Kent’s most notorious baddie, Lex Luthor. Cage’s love for DC and Superman goes to great lengths, as he even named one of his children Kal-el. Although it might seem unbelievable to some that we could have had him as the caped superhero, it’s nice when actors are so dedicated to their craft; it could have been great.

When asked by the Guardian if he’d be up, instead; to play a Superman villain, Cage expressed in excitement:

“Oh, that would be GREAT,” he said. “I’d make a great Lex Luthor!”

Laugh if you will, but Cage would make a better Lex Luthor than some recent renditions. He’s the right age for a rich, corporate-business man with the legal and illegal knowledge that comes with years of hard work. Personally, I’d be interested in seeing it.

What are your thoughts? Is it time to bring Cage into the DC universe?
