A stack of various DVDs and Blu-rays are arranged on a blue surface against a greenish-blue wall. The titles include films, series, and documentaries in different genres.

We at GVN aim to keep you informed of the newest and best in the world of physical media. Over on our YouTube Channel, you can find us talking about everything you need to know on No Streaming Required, our weekly guide to all the latest 4K UHD, Blu-Ray, and DVD releases.

For the week of January 14th, we have some incredible releases making their way to our shelves. Read on to get a brief overview of what you should have on your wishlist, then be sure to dive into the full rundown in the video below.

This week we spotlight a long-awaited 4K UHD Blu-Ray upgrade as the David Fincher crime thriller Se7en finally arrives from Warner Bros. The 4K restoration was sourced from the original camera negative and was overseen by director David Fincher with numerous updates to the picture. The transfer is presented in HDR10 and DTS-HD 5.1 Master Audio sound with most of the archival special features including four commentary tracks, deleted scenes, and more.

This is not the only major studio release as Paramount brings the horror sequel Smile 2 to 4K UHD Blu-Ray in both a standard and SteelBook edition form. The disc comes with Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos, a commentary tracks, and a rich assortment of additional special features.

The folks at ClassicFlix have continued their work of restoring beloved classic material, and this time around they have embarked upon the silent era of The Little Rascals on Blu-Ray. The release comes with eight rare silent Our Gang shorts remastered and beautifully restored. Fans of the weird and wild in animation will want to seek out the lastest from Deaf Crocodile. The label has released the German oddity The Cathedral of New Emotions on Blu-Ray newly restored with a wealth of special features including a commentary track, short films, and more.

It is a huge week for Severin Films as we dive into two of their biggest box sets of 2024. First up we have Danza Macabra Vol. Three: The Spanish Gothic Collection featuring four newly restored classic shockers from the 1970s. The set is packed with special features, but nothing comes close to the epic All The Haunts Be Ours: A Compendium Of Folk Horror Vol. 2. You may not even need all of the main features when you have over 55 hours of special features and a 252 page hardcover book of folk horror fiction. But luckily you have both, as the set includes 24 films representing 18 countries for more of the best-loved, rarely seen, thought-lost and brand-new classics of folk horror.

It is a big week for documentary content on Blu-Ray. Mill Creek Entertainment has released the latest installment of a popular docu-series with Icons Unearthed: Marvel. The folks at Cleopatra Entertainment explore a beloved Dallas club with Dark Sanctuary: The Story Of The Church. The Kino Lorber family have a powerful double bill with the new Oscar-shortlisted Soundtrack to a Coup d’Etat and the newly restored Chet Baker: Let’s Get Lost. Finally, you can learn more about one of the greatest directors of all time with My Name is Alfred Hitchcock from the Cohen Media Group.

This is only a taste of what you can discover on No Streaming Required this week, so be sure to check out the full video below.
