We at GVN aim to keep you informed of the newest and best in the world of physical media. Over on our YouTube Channel, you can find us talking about everything you need to know on No Streaming Required, our weekly guide to all the latest 4K UHD, Blu-Ray, and DVD releases.

For the week of October 8th, we have some incredible releases making their way to our shelves. Read on to get a brief overview of what you should have on your wishlist, then be sure to dive into the full rundown in the video below.

This week we explore exciting new releases and overlooked older gems from the Warner Archive. First up we have the eagerly anticipated debut of Top Cat: The Complete Series on Blu-Ray. This release includes all 30 original episodes of the Hanna-Barbera classic, newly remastered from 4K scans off the original camera negatives. These gorgeous episodes are complemented with an array of supplements including commentary tracks, a documentary, vintage commercials, and more. Luckily, this is not the only Hanna-Barbera offering as we get the Blu-ray debut of two classic Jonny Quest movies with Jonny’s Golden Quest and Jonny Quest vs. The Cyber Insects. These films look and sound great in HD, and we can only hope it leads to more recent iterations of the series being released on Blu-Ray.

Classic film fans have a lot to celebrate as we get the long-awaited Humphrey Bogart film noir Conflict newly restored in 4K from the Original Camera Negative with a solid collection of new and legacy special features including restored cartoons and a radio version of the story featuring Bogart. The label has also done some amazing work with Journey Into Fear starring Joseph Cotten by restoring it in 4K from elements provided by the Library of Congress. This Orson Welles production features a trio of radio plays from the legend including adaptations of Dracula and Treasure Island.

Musical fans will appreciate two musical biopics that have been newly restored from the Original Nitrate Technicolor Negatives. First up we have Words & Music detailing the lives of the prolific songwriting duo of Richard Rodgers and Lorenz Hart starring Mickey Rooney, Tom Drake, Betty Garrett, and Janet Leigh. This release includes a commentary track, unused musical sequences, and restored cartoons. We also have Three Little Words starring Fred Astaire and Red Skelton. The pair portrays Bert Kalmar and Harry Ruby, the masterminds behind songs such as “I Wanna Be Loved By You”. This release comes with an archival featurette, remastered cartoons, and more.

There are also some exciting older releases we are bringing back into the spotlight just in time for spooky season. We have a horror heavy-hitter as we look at the Blu-Ray release of Leatherface: Texas Chainsaw Massacre III which trades Tobe Hooper for director Jeff Burr. This release includes a commentary track, making-of featurette, and more. Night School brings the Giallo framework to America with a high body count and a 2K scan of the Interpositive. Made-for-TV horror fans will not want to miss the original Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark featuring a 4K scan of the Original Camera Negative and a pair of commentary tracks. There are a plethora of creature features including The Black Scorpion, The Giant Behemoth, The Cyclops, and more.

This is only a taste of what you can discover on No Streaming Required this week, so be sure to check out the full video below.
