[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”22751″ img_size=”900×500″ alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]The highly anticipated sequel to Wonder Woman doesn’t open until next year but that hasn’t stopped director Patty Jenkins from talking about the film. She recently said that she has screened a version of the film and she joked that it was so good she wish they could move the film back to November of this year. Patty though said she always wanted to open the film in a similar slot as the previous film and that is why the decision was made to move it to June 2020.
The sequel, Wonder Woman 1984, is set in the one of the greatest decades ever. But why did Patty decide this was the best time frame to set the movie in? During an interview with Deadline, Patty explains why she chose this setting.
“1984 itself is definitely very evocative to what’s important in that movie and resonates with right now … it was the pinnacle of the success in the 80s.”
“something about the excess of that period of time, which is so linked up to where we are in the world right now, that it’s set there for a reason.”
WW84 sees Gal Gadot reprise her role as Diana and Chris Pine returns as Steve Trevor. The films main antagonists will be Cheetah played by Kristen Wiig and Maxwell Lord (unconfirmed) played by Pedro Pascal. Not much else is know at this time about the film’s plot and just how the setting will influence the film but fans are ready none the less.
