Patty Jenkins’ Star Wars: Rogue Squadron Film Won’t Be a Video Game Adaptation

Patty Jenkins is one of the titan directors for DC, but she’s joining the Star Wars world in the upcoming Star Wars: Rogue Squadron. While Rogue Squadron is known as a video game franchise, Jenkins assures that the movie she’s directing is an original story. Despite it not being a video game adaptation, Jenkins assures fans that her film will honor the franchise that people love so much:

“[In the Star Wars: Rogue Squadron movie] we’re doing something original with great influence from the games and the books. There’s a lot of things being acknowledged and understood about the greatness of all of those things, but yes, it’s an original story and I’m so psyched to do it.”

The Rogue Squadron game first launched in 1998 and has sparked off a whole series. Despite the film not being an adaptation of the story featured in the games, we’re still insanely excited for the Wonder Woman 1984 director to join Star Wars. Jenkins’ Rogue Squadron film will hit theaters on Christmas 2023.
