PAW Patrol: The Movie Is a Fun Time for the Whole Family

Never have I ever heard so much howling in a theater. Ow Ow Ow woooooo! But, when the PAW Patrol Pups are involved it’s to be expected. “No job’s too big and no pup’s too small” for PAW Patrol: The Movie.

It was a packed theater when I saw the 6:30 p.m. showing on Friday night. Children everywhere were wearing PAW Patrol t-shirts. My grandson was on the edge of his seat for the movie to start, as were all the other kids there. He and every child in there had high expectations and they were not let down. I had no idea what to expect. I was not only pleasantly surprised, but with all those kids cheering, you couldn’t help but cheer, too.

The Plot

Humdinger, PAW Patrol’s biggest rival moves to Adventure City and starts wreaking havoc on the city as the mayor. Ryder and everyone’s favorite heroic pups kick into high gear to face the challenge and save the city. Armed with exciting new vehicles, not to mention new gadgets and gear. The PAW Patrol joins forces with a clever dachshund to save the citizens of Adventure City.

For a kid’s movie, I was delightfully surprised about how great this movie was. It kept to the subtle fun of the original cartoon with a fascinating story of overcoming fear. Honestly, I expected to be bored to tears taking my grandson to this movie, but it was really cute. Not only were we laughing out loud the whole time, but the whole audience was engaged. Going into this movie I was prepared for crying, talking, and the kicking of my seat. The only thing I got was the kicking of my seat, but it was out of excitement from the boy sitting behind us.

The Story Works Well Thanks to Those Behind It

Director Cal Brunker gives us lots of action and a heartfelt story, and he knows how to work a movie. We get way more action and danger than the TV show. Paw Patrol is on the big screen so everything else for the Pups is bigger and better too. A new headquarters paid for, according to Ryder, with PAW Patrol merchandise, “They sell like Hot Cakes – who knew!” Yes, even a little humor for adults is included throughout the movie. The visuals are big and I never thought it was too scary, plus the pups showed they could overcome fear.

A Must-See Fun Time

The whole family will enjoy this movie! Don’t listen to critics who blast the movie or say it’s just so they can market more merchandise. When I looked around the theater, I saw nothing but children glued to the edge of their seats with smiles on their faces. The original characters were true to the show, although we did miss Everest and Tracker. We did gain a new character which was a great addition to the team. Even though this movie is geared towards children, adults were cheering the pups on too. If your child loves PAW Patrol, the smile on their face when you leave will be worth every penny. I left the theater smiling not just because it’s a cute movie, but because of all the kids’ smiling faces too. Go see it, bring your kids, and let loose the kid in you. It’s perfect for a family night out!
