If you are not caught up on Penny Dreadful, check out our episode four review. Poor Detective Tiago is constantly put in the middle between the tensions in the city and the decisions his family makes. While it seemed like, at the beginning of the show; that Raul would be the brother Tiago had the highest tensions with, it’s Mateo instead. Mateo has been hanging out with Rio and Fly Rico and it may seem that his decision to affiliate with the Pachucos may land him in serious trouble.

The beginning of this episode was steamy. I’m not complaining. A lot keeps unraveling in this episode. Specifically with Kerry Bishe’s Sister Molly. I can’t tell if she chose to withhold information to Tiago or was lying to Josefina. Or lying to Tiago. I’m not sure. I really like Molly and Tiago’s relationship, but I have the feeling that Molly really isn’t who we think she is.
There was a nice scene involving Lewis and Tiago’s mother that I enjoyed. It seemed like this episode was a more Tiago-focused episode and I want to see more of Tiago and Lewis teaming up together. Something quite predictable happened with Dr. Craft and Magda (Elsa). It will be interesting how this plays out going forward.

Ultimately, I feel like not a lot happened. Rather, just footnotes on storylines that have played out within the past couple of episodes. Still, I have warmed up to these characters and I like the world this episode lives within. I definitely recommend giving episode five a view. Simply for some steamy scenes and to gauge where the story will go from here.
