What should we expect from the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise moving forward? Luckily, the people of Collider have an update after a Zoom call with producer Jerry Bruckheimer.
Bruckheimer stated:
“We’re working on a draft right now and hopefully we’ll get it shortly and give it to Disney and hopefully they’ll like it. We don’t know. We’ve been working on it for a little bit.”
The biggest star of the Pirates franchise was Johnny Depp, but is there any room for him in future movies? Bruckheimer expressed:
“The one we’re developing right now, we’re not sure quite what Johnny’s role is going to be. So, we’re going to have to see.”
Consensus for Depp in the public eye is rocky and if the Pirates series wishes to set themselves apart from the previous films, then it might be in their best interest to not include Depp. On the other end, we can all say he was the best thing about those former films, so maybe a Pirates franchise without Depp wouldn’t bring in an audience. We’ll have to see what happens as time goes on.
