The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that another big star is in negotiations to join the cast of The Matrix 4: The gorgeous and talented Priyanka Chopra Jonas. Keanu Reeves, Neil Patrick Harris, Carrie-Anne Moss, and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II will also be starring aside Chopra Jonas.
The film, directed by Lana Wachowski, co-creator of the Matrix, is slated to debut on May 21, 2021. The Warner Bros. film has yet to receive an official title.
The Matrix, which hit theaters back in 1999, paints a harrowing future for humanity. A majority of the population have been captured and subdued by a race of machines that feed on the human body’s electrochemical energy and body heat – all while their minds are imprisoned within an artificial reality. The science fiction film was followed by The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions and still remains an influential pop-culture staple.
