June is right on the horizon and with it are more freebies for PS Plus subscribers. Once again we have two titles to go over, one of which is utterly incredible and the other a classical throwback. We’ll also be taking a look at some PS Plus goodies for free-to-play games and some of the latest and greatest deals on the store right now. As always these games will be available on the first Tuesday of the month, June 4th. let’s get into it.
Borderlands: The Handsome Collection
Okay, so this is huge! First up this month we have Borderlands: The Handsome Collection. This includes both Borderlands 2 and Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, which recently received a 4K free graphics update to revamp their looks for current gen. If you don’t know what Borderlands is then first, where have you been? And second, you simply have to play it. Borderlands 2 is the king of the looter shooters, with easily one of the best narratives in all of gaming. It has an incredible villain, a ridiculously fun cast of characters, incredible gameplay and guns…so many guns… Seriously I can’t recommend this enough you absolutely have to download this game. Oh yeah, you also get Borderlands: The Pre-sequel thrown in too. Not as memorable as its older brother but still a damn fine game nonetheless. A perfect way for new players to get caught up before Borderlands 3 launches.
Sonic Mania
Our second title for June is a retro throwback which brings Sonic and friends firmly into the modern day. A 2D side-scroller which combines the best elements of the previous Sonic games in one place, this is a great choice for longtime fans and newcomers alike. Running at breakneck speed hastily picking up as many golden rings as possible is all well and good, but if you’re thirsty for a challenge Sonic Mania has you covered too. The game features not only co-op play but also some competitive game modes so you can go head to head with your friends. Even if 2D side-scrollers aren’t your thing I implore you, give it a go.
Freebies for Free Games
Before we get onto some of the current PS store deals lest take a look at some extra freebies PS Plus subscribers can get their hands on for their favorite free games. June will bring a free Apex legends pack including some character and weapon skins as well as a free banner. There will also be some pretty sweet PlayStation themed gear for Dauntless players too so if you’re a newcomer to Dauntless why not style your character out some more?
PS Plus Double Discounts
The PS Plus Double Discounts sale is currently still on, offering up to 30% off for nonsubscribers and up to 60% off for PS Plus members. Some standout deals include Assassin’s Creed: Origins for £16.99 at 66% off, Far Cry 5 is 60% off now £19.99, Call of Cthulhu is on £19.19, a great choice for any fan of H.P. Lovecraft and, South Park: the Fractured but Whole is £25.19 at 60% off.
There’s also a fair few EA deals at the moment with the EA Sports 19 bundle, Battlefield 1 and Titanfall 2 bundle and, the Battlefield Anniversary bundle all on sale.
VR Games Galore
There are a decent number of VR titles on sale right now in the “Totally Digital” section of the store. I Expect You to Die, a game all about being the best, or worse, spy possible is only £9.79 at 51% off, Surgeon Simulator is £5.79 with 63% off and the Superhot: Mind is Software Bundle which includes the regular and VR versions of the game is half price at £15.69.
Overall, June has to be one of the best PS Plus months we’ve had recently. Both Borderlands: The Handsome Collection and Sonic Mania are absolute must get’s in my opinion but I want to hear yours.
