Quibi’s The Fugitive Episode 5 – 7 Review: The Wrong Place at the Wrong Time

There’s no new episodes of Quibi’s The Fugitive for the weekend. Which, means it’s the perfect time to catch up on the first seven episodes. Previously, I had reviewed the first four episodes of the show. Now, let’s review episodes five, six, and seven. I’m primarily going to talk about how Kiefer Sutherland’s character is slightly getting on my nerves. Simply because he’s way too sure that Boyd Holbrook’s Mike Ferro is the suspect. Without pursuing any other possibility, which everything is pointing towards.

Slight Spoilers

That is until the end of episode seven. Where Mike has decided to trust the wrong person. More on that later.

Back to Sutherland’s Detective Clay Bryce. It’s very evident that Bryce is entirely too emotionally comprised for this case. Due to his wife having been one of the many victims on 9/11, Bryce is very gun-ho on this explosion case. So much so that he thinks that Ferro is, without a shadow of a doubt; the perpetrator. Even though evidence is arising that completely points in a different direction.

On top of Bryce being too overzealous, Tiya Sircar’s Pritti Patel is clearly riding this story as a means to catapult her to national journalistic fame. Though, her character does become more tangible within these episodes. You find out that she is doing all of this as a way to impress her parents, who clearly have high standards. It’s a little cliche, but at least adds another layer to a character who previously just seemed to be a heartless and story-hungry individual without any sense of the consequences her actions may have to a possibly innocent person.

At the center of all of this is Mike Ferro and his family. Who are seriously unjustly being put through the wringer because public court always wants to quickly point the finger at someone. Regardless if it’s accurate or not. Admittedly, Ferro does some questionable things. Such as stabbing someone or trusting the actual bomber. But, hey – it’s survival mode. I still want Ferro to be proven innocent here. And for his wife and daughter to be left alone.

Rating: 3.8/5

The Fugitive picks back up on the 10th with a brand-new episode.
