Now the already star-studded film may see the likes of mob-movie veteran, Ray Liotta. According to sources, Liotta may return to his roots and jump on board for The many Saints of Newark. Liotta may be doing anti-smoking commercials now, but he’s mostly known for his role in Martin Scorsese’s Goodfellas, which probably is on the shelf of almost every movie-lover and mafia-film lovers everywhere.
David Chase and Lawrence Konner, who created the original Sopranos show will be helming this film and it’s reported to take place during the Newark riots during the 1960s, where we saw clashes between Italian-Americans and African-Americans go “next level” after the mob became involved. Many Sopranos fans will be happy to see their favorite franchise come back and it will be interesting to see how the movie approaches the climate of that era. If Liotta were to be involved, it would really give the film that extra mobster feel to it.
