‘Red Dead Redemption 2’ Sales Expected To Lean Heavily Toward PS4

After many delays and pain-staking work by the teams at Rockstar Games, Red Dead Redemption 2 is out and it has been widely praised by critics and fans alike. As most game companies will tell you, critical success is important, but only if it translates to sales. With that in mind, game sales analysts predict healthy sales figures for the game but it will lean toward PS4 players.

GamingBolt industry analyst Michael Pachter predicted the sales outcome of Red Dead Redemption 2. According to the analyst:

I expect it to sell 15 million at least, possibly 17 million by the end of December. Take-Two often comments on sell-IN (sales to the retailer) instead of sell-THROUGH (sales made by retailers to consumers), so it’s possible they will talk about a number as high as 20 million.

With those kind of sales figures, he expects the ratio of sales between PS4 and X-Box to be about 2:1 in favor of the PS4 platform. This is despite that, if played on the top of the line systems for each platform, the XBox would most likely be the system of choice for the game. It all comes down to platform sales and in that aspect, more PS4 systems are being sold than X-Box. It might also help that the PS4 version has a few early access exclusives that the X-Box version does not.

Regardless of your chosen platform, if you enjoy the western genre you should check this one out. If the critical and fan response thus far is considered, you will not be disappointed.

I expect that too because they added additional exclusive limited content only for ps4. Although I am aware this content will eventually be on Xbox too, it looks like they tried to boost the PS4 sales.
