Respawn have recently revealed that they are focusing more on Apex Legends’ second season and Jedi: Fallen Order rather than the next Titanfall title.
Respawns’ most recent update on their battle royal title Apex Legends gives fans some nice teases for the future including a brand new weapon, character, and some map changes. Something they also revealed is that thanks to Apex and their upcoming Star Wars singleplayer action adventure title Jedi: Fallen Order the Titanfall series won’t be receiving much love any time soon.
Apex Legends executive producer Drew McCoy wrote: “It is important to understand that there are entirely separate development teams working on Apex Legends and Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order”. Many were quick to assume the creators behind Apex Legends were now working on a Star Wars game but drew has cleared that up here confirming its different teams.
He went onto say: “Additionally, in order to fully support Apex Legends, we are pushing out plans for future Titanfall games. No resources from the Apex Legends team are being shifted to other titles in development here at the studio, nor are we pulling resources from the team working on Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order”.
I may be a little biased as a massive Star Wars fan but I do not want people moved away from Jedi: fallen Order to begin work on a possible Titanfall 3 especially after Battlefront 2’s extremely rough life so far. Titanfall 2 is an incredible shooter and is a game you simply have to play if you haven’t already but, at least for now it seems the series won’t be seeing any new installments.
That being said Respawn CEO Vince Zampella did state early this year that they are “working on more Titanfall for later in the year,” but we have no idea what this could be. Fans are hopeful for a new AAA title rather than a mobile game or some such but for right now all we can do speculate.
