The Mandalorian Chapter 3: The Sin Review (Spoilers)
Deborah Chow directed Chapter 3 of The Mandalorian, and it is the best episode yet. You all better get used to me, saying, “It is the best episode.” Because each episode is only getting better and better. The one weakness a lot of people are saying is that “Dyn Jarren is not that badass.” And I can not disagree with you all more. Dyn Jarren, in this episode alone, has fought multiple bounty hunters at once, took out four Stormtroopers at the same time! How is that not badass?
On another note, if you all loved this episode well, I have some excellent news for you all because Deborah Chow, who directed this episode, will be directing all of the Obi-Wan Kenobi episodes. Now back to chapter 3. Even though we know that Dyn Jarren was going to come back for Baby Yoda, It was still upsetting that he gave Baby Yoda to The Client and Dr. Pershing, but the moment when Dyn decided to go back for the baby, this is no lie. I screamed at the top of my lungs, “GET YOUR SON BACK!” and started clapping (Yes, I know they are not related).
Now back to the climactic fight when the Mandalorians saves Dyn Jarren before he thought he was going to die, did anyone get that sense of déjà vu. Well, in Season four, episode fourteen, “A Friend in Need,” Just seeing Mandalorians flying around and kicking ass puts a smile on my face.
Dyn Jarren character development in this episode was freaking incredible. From the beginning episode where you see Baby Yoda climbdown his pod and reach for the ball, and you see Dyn took it away from him and said, “That’s not a toy.” to the end of the episode where Dyn gives Baby Yoda the ball. I am not going to lie I teared up a little.
And the scene where you see Dyn Jarren talking to The Armorer, played by Emily Swallow, saying, “I was saved by an enemy.” This scene is probably the best part of chapter three in terms of Dyn’s character arc because, at this point, he was conflicted about going back for the baby. Going back to Emily Swallow, we need more of her in live-action and make her Ahsoka with Chapter 1 and Chapter 3. She has commanded the screen. For those that do not know, she had worked on Castlevania, working on The Last of Us Part Two and supernatural.
