Plans for Deadpool
When the acquisition of Fox by Disney was completed, many fans wondered what that meant for some of the Marvel properties acquired from Fox. Especially characters like Deadpool, the X-Men, and the Fantastic Four. Although the powers at Marvel assure fans that they will get to these characters in time, one person believes that Deadpool and X-Force are not in Marvel’s Plans. That person is Rob Liefeld, who created X-Force and co-created Deadpool with writer Fabian Niceza. He expressed his opinion in a recent interview with Inverse.
I don’t know. Here’s what people don’t want to hear, but thank God I’m a realist. I feel like Deadpool, the movies, they’ve set sail. We got two brilliant movies, and we live in a culture that always looks forward because all they’re ever selling us is ‘next, next, next.’ It’s the fever. For me, as the fever calms down, people just need to calm down and realize that Deadpool 1 and 2 were released within two years of each other, 2016 and 2018, and I just can’t… I’m not really that crazy about Marvel’s plan right now…You want to know the plan with Deadpool right now? They have a goose egg, zero, zero.
What we know…Nothing
It is unknown if Liefeld has any inside information on Marvel’s plans. Mainly because of the coronavirus pandemic, many things have been rescheduled or put on the back burner. That doesn’t mean that there are no plans for future development. Perhaps it may not be as fast as some (Liefeld) would like. Hopefully, as things get back to the new normal, we will see some of those plans unveiled. Assuming, as Liefeld suggests, there is one.
Do you believe that Marvel has no intention of bringing Deadpool back into the MCU fold? Or perhaps they have just not revealed their plans with the pandemic freezing things for now? Share your hopes for Deadpool and X-Force with us at Geek Vibes Nation.
