Rosario Dawson Cast as Lead in Ava DuVernay’s Directed Pilot Series ‘DMZ’

 

Ava DuVernary will be directing the pilot to DMZ, which will premiere on HBO Max. Now we have confirmation who will be leading this series, based on a comic book of the same name.

Rosario Dawson will play the lead in DMZ, which will follow the U.S. being torn apart by a second civil war. Manhattan is a demilitarized zone, hence the name DMZ. Based on a Vertigo comic by Brian Wood and Riccardo Burchielli, this series is set in the near future. 

Dawson will play the character Alma, who is described as a fierce medic who saves lives while trying to find her lost son. A medic, you say? I’m getting Daredevil feels here. Alma will have to contend with gangs, militias, and more – all while trying to exude hope for all those around her. 

Roberto Patino will be the showrunner for the pilot and will executive produce alongside DuVernay. Are you excited for DMZ?
