Rotten Tomatoes Defending Against The Trolls

Thank You Rotten Tomatoes! It is sad to say, but us fans or more specifically trolls on the internet have been abusing their power online especially on Rotten Tomatoes to change the minds of others. Movie like Black Panther, Star Wars the Last Jedi, and Captain Marvel have all been victimes.

I’ve been on twitter reading other peoples comments about Rotten Tomatoes disabling the audience anticipation score. Here is what some people are saying,

As you can see some are disgusted by Rotten Tomatoes and their decision but in my opinion, this was a smart decision to make.

No matter how you look at it trolls are abusing the system, having multiple bots bringing down the audience score, giving biased opinions on a movie that has not been released yet, even fake assaults on twitter.

Rotten Tomatoes still gives you the option to click if you still want to see the movie, but if you do not want to see it then you are out of luck. Sorry for the fans that have legit reasons to not watch the movie, but you can thank the trolls for abusing the system. Also, Audiences can put in opinions after the movie is released.

On Rotten Tomatoes page it was said,

“We are disabling the comment function prior to a movie’s release date. Unfortunately, we have seen an uptick in non-constructive input, sometimes bordering on trolling, which we believe is a disservice to our general readership. We have decided that turning off this feature for now is the best course of action. Don’t worry though, fans will still get to have their say: Once a movie is released, audiences can leave a user rating and comments as they always have. We’re doing it to more accurately and authentically represent the voice of fans while protecting our data and public forums from bad actors.”

Obvious many trolls are going to retaliate saying that, “oh Disney bought rotten tomatoes” or any excuse they can think of so they can feel relevant, so far film like Black Panther and Last Jedi did a fantastic job in the box-office, which by the way is the real audience rating, not Rotten Tomatoes.

Anyway, what are your thoughts? Do you think that Rotten Tomatoes should have left the comment function on?  Comment down below.
