Russell Crowe Says He Would Love To Do a Sequel To ‘THE NICE GUYS’

In 2016 there was a cool hip neo-noir film released starring Russell Crowe and Ryan Gosling and directed by Shane Black called The Nice Guys. If you have not seen the film then I urge you to check it out as soon as possible. I feel the film is very underrated and should have made way more at the box office than it did – $62.8 million gross – and the ending sets up nicely for a sequel.

There have been talks for a sequel but Black admitted in 2018 that he was unsure a sequel would be made due to the lack of money the first film made but we have seen films in similar situations get sequels so if the studio and cast want to make it happen I say make it happen. In fact one of the stars of the film, Russell Crowe, was on the Howard Stern show this week and commented on just this very thing. Howard asked Russell if he had ever done a sequel to which Crowe replied that he hasn’t and that growing up sequels were always “shit”. But he did say he would like to see where certain of his characters would be after the original film such as his character Bud White in L.A. Confidential and that he would love to see a sequel to The Nice Guys.

Russell Crowe is an Academy Award winning actor and if he wants a sequel to The Nice Guys then dammit that is what he should get. Crowe also talked about turning down roles for Lord of the Rings and playing Wolverine to which he admitted that he more than likely would have only done the role for one movie which prompted the question about sequels from Howard.
