Russo Brothers Reveal The Only Actor To Get a Full Script for ‘Avengers: Endgame’

As we pull into the home stretch before the release of Marvel’s Avengers: Endgame, you have no doubt heard that the Russo’s strategy to reduce stress on the actors and the possibility of a slip of the tongue (yes, that means you Tom Holland). They do that by only giving the actors the parts of the script that pertains to them. By doing so, they remove the need for an actor to possibly reveal something they shouldn’t because they don’t know the whole story. The disadvantage to that plan is it more often than not requires more direction on their part to set the stage for a scene because the actor is not aware of all the circumstances involved.  They have applied that policy on both Infinity War and Endgame and it has worked for them. However, in a recent interview with Rotten Tomatoes, the Russo’s revealed the one actor who received the entire script. That would be the patriarch of the Marvel super-hero set, Robert Downey Jr. They explained that and their reasoning behind their madness.

[Robert Downey Jr.] was probably the only one to actually read the entire script. I think Benedict [Cumberbatch] got the script that included his scenes only. [Chris] Evans might have read the whole script. Part of our motivation to do that is it just takes a lot of pressure off of people. I mean, it is hard to constantly censor yourself about what you’re saying, how you talk, because these movies are your whole life. It’s everything you’re doing all day long, the inclination is to talk about it. So we take a lot of pressure off of people just by saying, ‘Okay, the less you know, the less you have to mind yourself.’

Does it surprise you that RDJ is generally the soul cast member to get the whole script? Him and maybe Chris Evans? Or is it just a reminder that this most likely is the end of the line for both talented actors, at least in the current MCU. Share your thoughts about the Russo method with us at GVNation.
