Russo’s: Tom Holland Didn’t Get A Script for ‘Avengers: Endgame’…For Obvious Reasons

Tom Holland has made the role of Spider-Man his own. Fan’s everywhere have extolled the virtues of his performances, especially in his end scene of Infinity War with Robert Downy Jr. when he apologized to Mr. Stark for leaving after saying he didn’t want to go. Unfortunately, the other reputation the young man has developed is for not being able to keep a secret. This is problematic in the Marvel Cinematic Universe when so much secrecy is involved in their plots. Because of this, the Russo Brothers have tried to eliminate the problem for Holland by not giving him anything but his lines. They explained this at the End Game Indian Anthem launch.

Yeah, Tom Holland does not get the script. Tom Holland gets his lines and that’s it. He doesn’t even know who he’s acting opposite of. We’ll just, we use like very vague terms to describe to him what is happening in the scene, because he has a very difficult time keeping his mouth shut.

This is not without precedent as it has become their policy not to share too much with their cast. It is their belief that it becomes too much a burden for them to have to safeguard certain plot points. Their thoughts are you cannot reveal that which you do not know. In Holland’s case, he has had issues in the past letting things slip so they are helping him, help them, so they both can feel safe. The last thing Marvel and the Russo’s want is for audiences to know more than the Studio wants them to know. With the kind of security Marvel places on their films and their need for secrecy, does it surprise you that actors like Tom Holland or Mark Ruffalo (another cast member accused of loose lips) have script information spoon fed to them? Share you thoughts and excitement about the pending Avengers:End Game with us at GVNation. We promise to keep it a secret.
