When you write and direct a movie that earns a paltry 1.3 BILLION dollars worldwide, the chances that you might be in high demand to write or direct more films is a no-brainer for anyone who hoped to tap that lightning in a bottle. Thus it was no wonder that Marvel Studios made it a matter of emphasis to lock down his talents for the next Black Panther film.

According to Hollywood Reporter, Marvel Studios and Coogler reached a deal behind the scenes some time ago and he is expected to begin penning the script early this coming year. Sources say the plan is to start production in either late 2019 or early 2020 assuming that no difficulties are encountered with scripting or any unforeseen scheduling issues. Marvel and parent company Disney have not made any official announcements about Marvel’s upcoming slate of movies beyond the next Avengers pic in May 2019 and a Spider-Man: Homecoming sequel in July. Regardless, the logical conclusion is that the Black Panther sequel is more a matter of when than if.

With the success of Black Panther, it was pretty much a given that a sequel was coming. Although, the single snap of a gauntleted hand did put a little kink in the plans as T’Challa couldn’t quite hold himself together. By the time Avengers 4 releases, the path that the Panther sequel will follow should be more clear.

Even though you had to know that a Black Panther sequel was coming, are you excited to have the confirmation that it is indeed in the works? Share your thoughts with us at GVNation.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
