A case of mistaken identity throws two lackluster singers into the world of professional safe-cracking. Before long they are “persuaded” by local gangsters to rob three different safes around town, and failure is not an option.

Video Quality
Safe Men gets somewhat of an upgrade to Blu-Ray courtesy of Mill Creek Entertainment, but with it comes many issues that could have been avoided in parts. The transfer is sourced from a solid older master provided by Universal Pictures for its Blu-Ray debut. The biggest issue with this disc is not the occasional speck of damage to the print, but rather the compression artifacts and occasional macroblocking that plague much of the film. The presentation struggles when it comes to textural detail as the image presents as a bit soft at times. The colors are one of the high points of the disc, as many of the vibrant locations and outfits pop off the screen. Skin tones mostly look natural, but the presentation offers up some fairly weak black levels. The disc experiences a fair amount of black crush that can be unsightly. Mill Creek Entertainment has provided a Blu-Ray disc that is a step up from DVD, but not the knockout we could have had thanks to compression issues.
Audio Quality
Mill Creek Entertainment brings us this new Blu-Ray with a lossless DTS-HD 5.1 Master Audio mix that is quite formidable. The dialogue holds up quite nicely, coming though clearly without being stepped on by the music or sound effects. The environmental effects are delineated nicely and given a dynamic placement throughout the speakers. The sounds of the bustling environments along with a slew of other sounds bring nuanced life to the rear speakers. The movie features some tunes which give this movie life and sound great within the mix. This track does what it needs to do pretty effortlessly. There are optional English SDH subtitles provided.
Special Features
There are no special features provided on this disc.
Final Thoughts
Safe Men is not quite the laugh-out-loud comedy we had hoped to view, but those who check this one out are sure to get at least a decent number of smirks and chuckles throughout. The film has a very amiable atmosphere that makes it a pleasant film to engage with, even if it does not stick in your mind as a classic by any stretch of the imagination. The performances do a lot of heavy lifting to get you on the side of the film, and the oddball humor will delight those who can get on the same wavelength. Mill Creek Entertainment has released a Blu-Ray featuring a serviceable A/V presentation and nothing in the way of special features. Fans of the film will be thrilled to finally have this one in high definition.
Safe Men is currently available to purchase on Blu-Ray.
