Samsung presented their new Galaxy S10 and Galaxy S10+ (the larger version) at the Unpacked press event in San Francisco this morning. Among some of the features on these new phones is a punch-hole cut-out for the front-facing camera, which will allow the company to use edge-to-edge screen design, without the usual notch that can find on the latest iPhone. It also features a three-lens camera in the back, which is apparently powered by a machine learning software.
Samsung’s director of product marketing, Suzanne De Silva; states:
“Even if you never studied photography, the S10 did.”
The S10 and S10+ has feature an ultrasonic fingerprint reader, which is integrated onto the screen, so you can unlock your phone by placing your finger on the display. The phones also feature an “AMOLED display”, which is promised to showcase the “world’s most color-accurate display”. The S10’s display is 6.1 inches and the S10+’s is 6.4 inches.
You’ll also be able to add stickers, captions, and more to your photos as Samsung partnered with Instagram – meaning you can directly post your photos to Instagram Stories. Samsung’s newest phones are capable of recording HDR10 in 4k and Samsung has also partnered with Adobe for its editing features.
What is also different is that the Galaxy S10 will come with a wireless charging onboard and is capable of reverse charging, which means that it can be used as a backup for other devices that may need wireless charging.
As far as price goes, the S10 will start at $900, while the S10+ will start at $1000. Samsung is also coming out with a “budget-friendly” version called the Galaxy S10e, which will cost $750. You can pre-order these devices on February 22nd and will be able to purchase them on March 8th.
