Scout Taylor-Compton Says She Is “Kinda Glad” Third ‘HALLOWEEN’ Was Never Made

Now I hope this article does not stir up the crowd that is for the RZ Halloween films and the ones who are not. I am just going to go ahead and admit that I LOVE both of Rob Zombie’s Halloween films and I appreciate that he tried to make them his own vision. But due to the success of the most recent Halloween film, which was great by the way, former Laurie Strode actress Scout Taylor-Compton was asked about the potential third film in the Rob Zombie franchise. SYFY Wire caught up with Scout who told the outlet that Rob Zombie was indeed finished with the franchise after his second film. In fact if you have seen both versions of H2 then you could tell Zombie shot it in a way to close the door on his arc but that of course did not stop the studio from wanting another one. Scout said her and Tyler Mane (Michael Myers) were both asked to return.

“There was a lot of stuff that was going on, and I mean, I was too young to really understand what was going on. But I do know that we were contacted. Myself and [Michael Myers actor] Tyler [Mane] were contacted by Dimension to do a third. They had sent a copy of the script. They didn’t have a director, but they had a tentative tape date, and that was it.”

Due to Rob not being part of the film the studio cut costs.

“And they pretty much cut funds in half. It was the strangest phone call I’ve ever gotten in my entire life,” the actress explained. “When I heard that Rob wasn’t gonna be a part of it, I called Tyler and I talked to him. And he said that he had gotten the same offer. We were so hesitant on doing it. And we saw the media, all the different directors that they had attached to it and all this stuff. I was indifferent with what I wanted to do; it seemed so unorganized and so up in the air.”

Scout admits that she really did not want to give up the role because she has put so much into it and she did not want to see someone else come along and play the role and in the end she said

“But I’m kinda glad that it didn’t happen”

I thought Scout did a great job playing Laurie and in the second film she really captures the PTSD of such a tragic ordeal that she faced at the hands of Michael Myers. We get to really get into her psyche. Zombie has a unique style and some fans were turned off by it especially since the original Halloween is still considered by many, including myself, to be a masterpiece and one of the best horror films ever made.

We got chance to relive the glory days with Halloween (2018) and there is a possible sequel to that film in development with writer Scott Teems.

Would you have loved to seen a third RZ Halloween film or are you glad it was never made? Share your thoughts with us in the comments below.
