Scream-Fest Film ‘Hereditary’ is A24’s Biggest Box Office Hit Worldwide

The horror genre is not dead. While horror films have changed throughout the decades, people will still never tire of wanting to be afraid when going to the theaters. Thanks to Toni Collette, Hereditary is now the company A24’s highest grossing film worldwide. According to Deadline, Hereditary earned up to $77.5 million, pushing their previous success Lady Bird out of its place.

Hereditary premiered at the 2018 Sundance Film Festival and marked Ari Aster’s directorial debut. The film focuses on Collette’s character, Annie; after the death of the matriarch of her family. Everything starts to unravel once the family finds out about their ancestor’s sinister past and they are now trying to outrun their terrifying fate.

Collette has been wildly praised for her performance in Hereditary, but apparently, it was not something that she was originally into. According to a sit down with Vulture, she had told her agent that she did not want anything heavy. Despite insisting to him that she didn’t want to even glance at a script that had a heavy tone to it, he showed her Hereditary, which she “fucking loved” and also “hated him for sending it.”

Hereditary is still playing in some theaters and if you want to also lose your mind along with Toni Collette, you should get tickets to see this film.
