Screenwriter for ‘The Walking Dead’ Compares The Rick Grimes Movie To ‘LOGAN’

When the character of Rick Grimes left AMC’s The Walking Dead, he was situated well. Almost with an open invitation to come back. In one form or another. So when it was announced that Andrew Lincoln would be reprising his role in a series of films, fans weren’t surprised. They did wonder what form these films might take.

Recently, film screenwriter Scott Gimple, who is developing the franchise’s first feature film, talked about his thoughts on the project. He described his take on the story being similar to Logan. He did this during an interview with Comicbook.Com

The first movie in what is being plotted as a trilogy has to “honor people who have invested the time in their lives and the show. But we can’t do that at the expense of inviting everybody. Rick has a history and the history will be present within him and it’ll be a big part of who he is. But it’s likely going to be a very different Rick that we see as well. New audiences will be like, ‘Oh, that’s the guy. I want to discover that past history.’ We who know it so well, it’s like, ‘Oh crap, that’s the thing that’s weighing on him from the past. But like Logan, You didn’t have to watch every X-Men movie to enjoy that.

Gimble also said that Lincoln is involved in the film’s direction and is excited to return to the character. How about you Walking Dead fans? Are you looking forward to some new adventures with Rick Grimes? Share what you would like to see here at Geek Vibes Nation.
