Should Black Adam Be Portrayed As a Hero?

With the recent announcement by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson of the expected release date for Black Adam, fans were understandably relieved. This has been a project that has been discussed and anticipated as far back as 2007. Now with a tentative release date of December 21 of 2021, it can be speculated what the story will be.

Part of that story as written by Adam Sztykiel, will establish whether Black Adam is portrayed as a villain, anti-hero, or hero. But if you were to go what Black Adam himself said in his Instagram account, you might lean more toward hero. In Johnson’s post (seen below) he describes Black Adam as thus: “He’s a rebellious, one of a kind superhero, who’ll always do what’s right for the people – but he does it his way.” Of course, all villains might see themselves as heroes in their own mind. So perhaps this doesn’t necessarily mean anything. But it wouldn’t come as a surprise if Johnson would prefer to steer the character in a more positive direction but still keep his rebellious nature. Especially since he hasn’t went the villain route in a long time. Probably since his film debut as the Scorpion King. As with most things, time will tell.
