Simon Pegg Discusses The Status of ‘Star Trek 4’

With Simon Pegg currently out supporting his newest film, Mission: Impossible – Fallout, that doesn’t mean he won’t discuss the possibility of him soon being back on the USS Enterprise for the fourth Star Trek movie.

As a guest on Larry King Now, he spoke to King about the next Star Trek movie. He said he had met the new director, SJ Clarkson, who is the first female director of a Star Trek film. He found her to be “just brimming with ideas and enthusiasm” and he expressed excitement with the possibility of working with her.

Although Pegg knows he is IN the movie, other details have not been relayed to him. He believes they are progressing in the prep stage, making sure everyone in the cast is available and deciding on possible filming locations. London and Atlanta are being considered as possibilities.

Paramount Pictures is reportedly looking to begin shooting on Star Trek 4 as early as possibly January and considering Black Panther and The Walking Dead star Danai Gurira for a new female character. The yet untitled Star Trek 4 will reunite the original cast that includes Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, Karl Urban, John Cho, and Pegg. Expect to also see Chris Hemsworth reprise his role as George Kirk, Captain James Kirk’s father, who died in the opening scene of 2009’s Star Trek.

As an admitted Star Trek geek, I look forward to the next in this series. No release date has been projected at this time.
