There’s a plethora of epic moments from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. To rope them into one article would be impossible. What I can pinpoint are three of the most fantastic scenes from the MCU – and they all include Thor.
Confession: I wasn’t the biggest fan of Thor initially. We can all admit that Chris Hemsworth played Thor a bit stiff in the past. In Thor and Thor: The Dark World, I didn’t pay attention too much to Thor – it was all Loki for me. Then Taika Waititi came on the scene and gave us Thor: Ragnarok. Suddenly, Hemsworth was given the room and freedom he needed to shine. Now, I consider him one of my favorite characters in the MCU. And some of my favorite moments come from Thor. I just felt like putting them online!
Thor Realizes His True Strength in Thor: Ragnarok
In the past, Thor always relied on Mjolnir as the source of his power. Losing an eye and his hammer was crushing for Thor, but Thor’s father Odin reached out to him in a vision and gave him the push he needed to realize his full potential. When Thor descended on Hela’s army with Led Zeppelin’s Immigrant Song playing, I nearly screamed. Such a beautifully shot moment that really showed us who Thor was.
Thor’s Entrance in Wakanda in Avengers: Infinity War
Avengers: Infinity War is top five in the MCU. When all of the Avengers were scrambling to defeat Thanos’s army in Wakanda, it was Thor who came in and helped even the playing field. It was the climax to an intense sequence of events. The Avengers getting overran in Wakanda – Thor, Groot, Rocket, and Eitri scrambling to make Stormbreaker. Thor appearing in Wakanda was one of the best entrances ever and the theater screamed all four times I saw Avengers: Infinity.
“Let’s Kill Him Properly This Time”
Everyone lost a lot due to Thanos, but Thor felt personally responsible for the snap. Worn out and feeling defeated for five years, Thor had nothing to lose facing off against Thanos in the last arc of Avengers: Endgame. After looking disheveled the entire film, Thor called for Stormbreaker and Mjolnir and the lightning turned his beard into an epic braid. It’s a quick scene, but one of my favorite.
