It’s been ten years since Smallville ended its historic run in May 2011. And aside from an appearance in 2019’s “Crisis on Infinite Earths,” viewers haven’t seen much of Tom Welling’s iconic take on Superman since. However, that may be about to change.
In a recent Cameo video, Welling teased that he and Michael Rosenbaum were developing an animated continuation of Smallville, saying:
“Maybe there’s a Smallville marathon coming your way. Michael Rosenbaum and I are actually working on an animated series to bring those characters back to life and use as many of the original cast members as possible,” Welling said. “Don’t tell anybody though, it’s a secret, we’re still working on it.”
At the moment, it’s unclear where an animated show might air, who all would be involved, or what story it might tell. But the possibility of a return to Smallville is an exciting one.
What would you want to see in a Smallville animated series?
