Sony’s Ongoing Spider-Man Brand Expansion: Silver Sable Spin-Off Project Hits a Roadblock!
In recent times, Sony Pictures has been actively strategizing to extend their dominion over the Spider-Man brand within both the film and television domains. The ambitious plans, however, have experienced a setback, leading to the cancellation of a highly-anticipated Spider-Man spin-off project.
While numerous feature films within the Spider-Man universe, such as Venom and Morbius, have successfully hit the big screen, and Kraven the Hunter eagerly anticipated, some projects have encountered delays. Writer Lindsey Anderson Beer, shedding light on the current progress, hinted that certain film projects might be facing a slowdown. Particularly, a spin-off series she was involved in appears to have hit an impasse.
The axed project in question is the Spider-Man spin-off series, Silver Sable. Anderson Beer, in an interview with ComicBook.com, confirmed the cancellation, stating, “It was something that Sony was looking at and then, as far as I know, is not currently developing.” She further added that she had transitioned to another project at the time and had been contributing as a ‘weekly,’ a role commonly designated for assisting writers. She expressed uncertainty regarding the project’s current status.
Despite this setback, Lindsey Anderson Beer remains active and engaged in various ventures. Notably, she recently made her directorial debut with “Pet Sematary: Bloodlines” for Paramount Plus, showcasing her versatility as both a writer and director. Additionally, she has contributed to Disney’s live-action Bambi adaptation and is currently immersed in numerous projects, including a sequel to Star Trek: Beyond and a modern interpretation of the cult classic sci-fi film, Short Circuit.
For Spider-Man enthusiasts, the silver lining lies in the fact that several other spin-offs are still in the pipeline. Alongside the highly anticipated Kraven the Hunter, fans can anticipate the completion of Madame Web. Additionally, a sequel to the acclaimed “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse” is already in the works, promising an exciting future for the Spider-Man cinematic universe.
