Sony Producers Detail Upcoming Jared Leto’s Morbius Movie

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”8091″ img_size=”900×500″ alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]Jared Leto is set to play Morbius, a living vampire; in Sony’s upcoming Morbius movie. A lot of details have remained under wraps, especially before Tom Hardy’s Venom was released in theaters. Now that the film has been a financial success, everything is in full swing for Sony’s Marvel Universe.

In an interview with Collider, producers Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach revealed that the timing is ultimately up to Sony, but that Leto is still on board and very excited about the upcoming project. Daniel Espinosa will direct and filming may start sooner than we think!

MATT TOLMACH: Morbius is the next one.

[Steve Weintraub]: So Jared Leto is definitely doing it?

TOLMACH: Yes, sir.

ARAD: Oh yeah. This is the great thing for us now, that an actor like him, and an actor like Tom wanted to have their own character. But the character they love. Both of them, very hard to get them to do a movie. You actually cannot get them. We went in, we sat with them, and everybody told us, “Oh, ba, ba, ba, ba, ba.” Nothing. That’s what he wanted to do.

ALMACH: Tom, you mean.

ARAD: Tom. And Jared, too. We went to this place with them, and he just…good actors want to be different than what they are.

Arad went on to say filming may start as early as February. The two also discussed the issue with the PG-13 rating that Venom got and while many disagreed about the rating, saying it should have been rated R, the two stood by the decision, stating that the success of Morbius and other films as such shouldn’t rely on a more violent rating. And with children loving comic book movies, an R rating would prevent parents from bringing their children. It seems Sony will not follow the path Deadpool and Logan have found success in and are probably sticking with PG-13.

As we know more, we will let you know![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
