While Marvel Studios dominates most things Marvel, Sony Pictures is doing quite nicely “staying in their lane” with their selection of Spider-Man based characters. From their joint venture with Marvel on Spider–Man: Homecoming, their box office success with Tom Hardy as Venom, and their Academy Award for Spider-Man Into the Spiderverse, you could say that things are looking “Marvelous.”
According to Avi Arad, Sony is just getting started. They are in the middle of production of Jared Leto’s Morbius the Living Vampire and if you ask Avi, which Deadline did, fans are in for a real treat with Leto’s appearance in the film and there is more to come.
Wait until you see the way he looks, what we have done with this character, you will love it, There are so many other great characters on the way, too. You will see. We’re just getting started.
With the success of Into the Spiderverse, rumors have run rampant of which characters might be developed next from their library of Spidey related heroes and villains. With so many to chose from, Sony is well situated to expand on their success and it will start with Morbius.
