‘Spider-Man: Far From Home’ Director: Mysterio is Comic Book Accurate

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”21873″ img_size=”900×500″ alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]For anyone who have read my “Traditionalists” articles in the past, you would know that I am a stickler for comic book accuracy. At least as much as they can provide. With the upcoming Spider-Man: Far from Home, they have included Mysterio as the main Villain or Hero?? Most fans know him as being one of Spider-Man’s top enemies. Considering that, his apparent “nice-guy” routine they have seen from the trailer doesn’t jive to what they expect from the character.

This has not gone un-noticed by Director Jon Watts, so he has went out of his way to reassure audiences. Mysterio is comic book accurate. This not only includes his suit which is based in no small way from the comic book and is awesome. It also includes his storyline, at least initially. He explained as much in a recent interview with ScreenRant.

Mysterio enters the comic as a hero. So, I always took it right back to the source material and what made that character exciting initially.

The “Source Material’ in question is Amazing Spider-Man# 13, which was written and drawn by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko. In that story, Mysterio attempts to frame Spider-Man for a crime in order to present himself as a hero. If this is the framework that Watts is following, you can assume that Mysterio will resume his normal devious activities somewhere along the way. At least, that is what happened in the “source material.”

Are you concerned that the Marvel team will change the way you remember the character of Mysterio? Or has 22 previous films earned them your trust that they will do right by the viewing audience? Share your opinion, either way with us at GVNation.
