Elvis Presley stars as racecar driver and rock singer Mike McCoy, who is being pursued by three very determined young women. Pert, spoiled, rich Cynthia always gets what she wants, and she wants Mike … Diana, a best-selling author doing research for her next book, The Perfect American Male, thinks he fits the title and wants him for the book–and for herself … And sexy drummer Les hears wedding bells whenever she thinks of Mike. The screenplay follows Mike’s predicament of too many beautiful women chasing him, while keeping his eye on the big race at the film’s climax. Along the way, Elvis gets the opportunity to sing nine songs, with comic relief from a slew of well-known character actors. M-G-M studio veterans Joe Pasternak and Norman Taurog served as Producer and Director respectively for this tune-filled musical comedy.

Video Quality
Warner Archive presents Spinout with a beautiful new 1080p master transfer in 2.35:1 sourced from a 4K restoration of the Original Camera Negative. Warner Archive once again delivers first rate quality as they continue to revisit these sumptuous features of yore. The film features some delicious colors within the costumes and 60s production design that pop off the screen with an intense vibrancy. The level of discrete detail and clarity is stunning with the perfect amount of natural film grain intact. The film is virtually pristine with no noticeable instances of damage or dirt detected here. Black levels are incredibly deep with a grand stability throughout. Compression artifacts, banding and other such issues are never an issue in this transfer. This presentation is another instance of Warner Archive offering up a flawless technical endeavor.
Audio Quality
The Blu-Ray comes with a DTS-HD 2.0 Master Audio track that is also really excellent. The main draw for many will be hearing Elvis sing his songs, and this track delivers them with unparalleled fidelity. Dialogue and background noises are represented amicably along with the tunes. There is no discernible age related wear and tear to the track such as hissing or popping. No elements ever overshadow the dialogue that is being spoken here. While mostly dialogue and music driven throughout, the more kinetic moments, such as the racing finale, are handled with ease and give the track a kick into overdrive. Warner Archive has provided a disc that sounds fabulous in all respects. There are optional English (SDH) subtitles included for the feature film.

Final Thoughts
Spinout is a light and amusing effort from Elvis which does not catapult him to the zenith of his abilities, but it is likely to please his devoted fans with a fun time. The banter produces a few chuckles, the “romance” may produce some unintentional laughter due to some of the more absurd elements, and the music is groovy even if there are no standout hits. Warner Archive has released a Blu-Ray with a practically flawless A/V presentation and a nice array of special features. If you are looking for some cool summer vibes, this fits the bill. Recommended
Spinout can be purchased directly through MovieZyng or through various other online retailers.
