Star Wars: Episode 1 – The Phantom Menace’s Liam Neeson Says He Is Proud of Film

There has been a lot of hate for the Star Wars prequel trilogy. Regardless, Liam Neeson says he is proud of Star Wars: Episode 1 – The Phantom Menace. In a new interview, Neeson talks about the movie, that came out in 1999:

“I like the film. I proud of it and proud to have been a part of it. I got to be a Jedi. I got to play with those wonderful lightsabers and stuff. It was terrific, Andy, it really was.”

Neeson also spoke about his distress over the way Ahmed Best was treated by fans and critics over playing Jar Jar Binks:

“He came into a lot of criticism, I mean to the point where it really hurt his career. And I have to say when I was making that film … he was probably one of the funniest guys and talented guys I have ever worked with.” Neeson added that he was so impressed, he told his manager that he believed Best could be the next Eddie Murphy. “And I still believe that.”

Despite people claiming disdain for the trilogy series, fans did love Ewan McGregor’s Obi-Wan Kenobi. As evident by the fact that there will be a Kenobi series on Disney+. And Darth Maul has been a character frequently revisited in other Star Wars series, such as animated series.
