First, you will see a villain called, The Elder. This master swordsman searches for worthy adversaries. While he has the appearance of an old man, he dodges, ducks and manipulates his opponents’ blades with graceful ease. The Elder doesn’t seek power and seems mostly dedicated to mastering his skills, but he contains many Sith-like qualities. Next, you have a villain called Am. Consumed in her desire for power, Am dons a special dark armor suit as she struggles with her inner demons. Next, you have Masago, a character with a great deal of strength and presence. Her red eyes express her pact with the dark side of the force.
Will Star Wars: Visions Be Part of the Canon?
Neither Disney nor Lucasfilm confirmed if the new Star Wars: Visions would belong to the canon, but the consensus from most sources is that it won’t belong to the canon continuity. Basing the world from the perspective of the best anime creators was a risky but interesting way to take the series that has received positive praise overall. Nine original stories will unfold, and each of the episodes will range from 13 to 22 minutes. The series won’t belong to the canon because James Waugh, executive producer, said that they wanted to give the anime artists total creative freedom to see what they could make of it. They could explore a great depth of Star Wars from a unique anime lens.
The Lightsabers
Star Wars: Visions promises to further explore the weapon synonymous with the Jedi—the lightsaber. They will refresh their look in the new series to re-examine what a lightsaber can be and how it might reflect the nature of those who wield them. We may see some samurai influence on the lightsabers in the new series.
